GMB Northants Branch Secretary: Gordon Glassford successfully organised again this year the 2019 Corby Commemoration to mark International Workers Memorial Day.
The event took place on Saturday the 27th April and was very well attended. Corby IWMD Commemoration was opened by music from Corby Silver Band, there were speeches from Craig Stuart- GMB Regional Health And Safety Officer, Nick Macwilliam – Justice For Colombia, Beth Miller – Prospective Labour Party Candidate For Corby And East Northants, Kate Hill - June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fund and Rory Palmer - MEP. A minutes silence was led by Gordon, we had a song from Ian Cameron and a cheque for £2075 was presented to Kate Hill of June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fund by Rory Palmer MEP and Beth Miller Corby Labour Candidate on behalf of Unions & Branches. Contributions were received from GMB Northants, CWU East Midlands, ASLEF, UNISON N'hants Health Workers, GMB Grimsby General, Musicians Union, Unite NN17 Branch, GMB Midlands Region, Unite EM/NN44 and USDAW E10, this was followed by a light buffet
