Common themes of survey:
- Improving working and pay conditions for NHS and care staff,
- Getting GMB out there more in workplaces, present more in workplaces,
- Knowing meetings are taking place.
Ideas on how to do this:
- Petition to call for care and NHS staff to be properly paid, not be worked to the bone and in unsafe environments.
- In every workplace where there are GMB members having visits, leaflets, etc. in, running a campaign to give employees the free choice on which union to join and not have trusts “recognising” some and others not (which I have personally experienced in previous jobs).
- In new member packs having a section introducing the different officers, positions, and introducing our meetings and that there is no pressure to commentate on anything, can just join meetings to stay in the loop.
- Focus groups or forums with young members in the summer
- Any other ideas on how to address the above themes are very much welcome and can be addressed to any of the officers including myself (Youth officer).
