 The TUC has launched a new survey to find out about equality issues across UK workplaces.
The survey is designed for union reps to tell the TUC what equality policies and practices are in place, what are the key issues reps are facing and what support the TUC can provide. You don't have to be an equality rep to complete, any rep who has something to share on what does or doesn’t happen around equality at their workplace can fill it out.  The next meeting of the GMB Northants Community Branch will be held on Thursday 30th November, 2023 at 7.00pm on Zoom. The Zoom meeting link will be on our WhatsApp Group, the monthly email newsletter and available on request from our Branch Secretary.

 The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has today published a draft update to the 2015 menopause guideline.
The guideline was developed for healthcare professionals, and for women themselves, and covers menopause diagnosis and management. NICE said in the new draft guideline that new evidence shows that cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) can help reduce some menopause symptoms, and should be offered alongside or instead of HRT. You can read more about the draft guideline here.  At a meeting this week of the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee in Parliament, the PHSO said that its provisional Stage 2 report (on injustice caused by the DWP maladministration) and provisional Stage 3 report (on the remedy it recommends) will be sent to all complainants within the next ten days.
 Fight Bladder Cancer have been invited to give a talk to branch members on Zoom.
The event will take place on Thursday the 16th November 2023 at 7pm on Zoom, when we will be joined by Melanie Costin of fightbladdercancer.co.uk who will give a short presentation and then take any questions.  On Sunday the 29th October 2023 GMB Workplace Representatives held a recruitment day at Asda in Kettering.
The event had a Halloween theme with a raffle and competition and was organised by GMB Union Workplace Reps: Neil, Laura and Lorraine - who you can see in the pictures below. The event was a great success with more members signing up to join the GMB Union and also joining the GMB Union Asda Equal pay Claim. A great recruitment event and well done to Laura, Lorraine and Neil for organising - and what great Halloween costumes. |
