GMB Northants Supports Green Patch
GMB Northants are delighted to support Green Patch, part of Groundwork. GMB Northants Branch member Maggie Don can be seen here presenting a cheque for £200 to Simon Mutsaar, Ground Works Northants organiser and green patch volunteers.
The Green Patch is a community allotment project based on the Grange estate in Kettering, run by Groundwork Northamptonshire. In partnership with Kettering Borough Council and Northamptonshire County Council, they run a variety of different provisions for children and adults including holiday and after school clubs, volunteer days, and alternative education sessions. We grow affordable fresh fruit and vegetables and sell fresh eggs laid by our on site chickens and ducks. There are many features to the site including poly tunnels, raised beds, wildlife pond and area, natural play, orchard, green hut and toilet.

New Kier blacklisting in Corby
GMB ACCUSE KIER OF BLACKLISTING AGENCY WORKERS ON CORBY CONTRACT WHO COMPLAINED ABOUT TWO TIER WORKFORCE
Kier seem to have learned no lessons from being in the High Court today over blacklisting construction workers says GMB
GMB has accused Kier of blacklisting agency workers who have been stopped from working on Kier Street Scene Services contract in Corby because they raised a protective disclosure through the grievance process for unlawful deductions of wages and parity pay.
This has happened as there is a further hearing in the High Court in London on 14 July seeking compensation for GMB members blacklisted by construction employers including Kier.
