GMB union Midlands region has launched it’s Big Summer Survey, focused on some of the political and social priorities of GMB members in the region.
The survey has already gathered a huge response, which will help shape the unions political and campaign priorities. The results will be reported on to Regional Committee, but please in the meantime encourage colleagues and Reps in your area to complete the survey. Reponses are completely anonymous. Reflecting on the passing year 2024, for me personally, it has been one of active work in the field of representing and advising members and in preparing for the General Election in July 2024. The result was a crushing defeat of the Conservative party and the return of the first Labour Government in 14 years, leaving the political landscape very different to what it was in January 2024. The Employment Rights Bill that is now making its way through the UK Parliament.
The Bill is a huge first step in delivering the New Deal for Working People, and GMB are now involved with consultations and the Parliamentary process to ensure we’re doing the work to get the details of the legislation right.
