Save our railway ticket offices

It's official - Train operators have announced plans to close nearly 1,000 ticket offices. We have until 1st September to take part in the public consultation. Can you take two minutes to respond to your train company’s consultation and object to the closure of ticket offices?

The RMT has prepared template letters for each train operator:

As many of our members will be aware from attending our monthly meetings and listening to reports on how we spend branch funds, supporting local charitable organizations across Northamptonshire.

Most of our support goes towards food banks and more recently we have been asking them to report on the demanding work they are engaged with in their local communities.

This report reflects some of that unstinting work from their teams of volunteers who are witnessing first-hand the rise in dependency on food parcels and personal items that families simply can’t afford to buy.

The official re-opening of Coronation Park Memorial Walk in Corby is scheduled for 11.30am on Thursday 24th August.

GMB Northants has had the Workers Memorial stone cleaned and repaired and it has been relocated inside the memorial walkway.

1 in 8 workers in East Midlands in insecure work, TUC warns

NEW analysis by the TUC reveals 1 in 8 workers (12.5%) in the East Midlands are in insecure work
Insecure work is characterised by low pay, variable hours and fewer rights and protections for workers
The disproportionate concentration of BME workers in insecure work shows “structural racism in action”, the TUC says

New analysis published today (Monday 14th August) by the TUC finds that 290,700 workers in the East Midlands are in insecure work.

This is 12.5% of the regional workforce.
