The February branch meeting of GMB Northants Community Branch (C51) took place on Thursday the 27th February 2025 at 7pm on Zoom. Below are the summary minutes of the meeting.  GMB Northants Branch elections for officers and committee are due to take place this year at the June 2025 branch meeting.
Branch officers are elected by each GMB branch and each branch will have a president, secretary, equality officer, youth officer and two auditors and a committee of no less than nine members. The president, secretary, equality officer, race officer and youth officer will all be members of the committee. (See rule 35.3)  GMB Northants is proud to be supporting local foodbanks with quarterly donations. The branch recently included Irthlingborough Foodbank, located at the Salvation Army Citadel, on Spinney Road, Irthlingborough, NN9 5RT
Our Branch President Jackie Grover recently paid them a visit to meet some of the wonderful volunteers and say hello. The Irthlingborough foodbank opens alternate Thursdays and Fridays for local people in need of support. Find out more on their website or Facebook Group.  On Friday the 28th February 2025 Neil and Abi held another successful recruitment day at ASDA in Kettering, where we talked to lots of members and handed out merchandise. This recruitment event was a quiz on WhatsApp with 10 questions relating to GMB Union. This was a big success and members have been asking when they will do the next one.

 Our branch is constantly reviewing how we can engage our younger members (aged 30 and under). Working with our Youth Officer Verena Kroll we want to reach out with an invite to talk with us via a Zoom meeting on the 3rd April 2025. Details to follow!
