GMB Workers Memorial Day Event 2015

GMB Northants Community Branch held our annual event to mark Workers Memorial Day in Corby on Saturday the 25th April 2015. The event was hosted by Gordon Glassford the GMB Branch Secretary and we heard speeches from Andy Sawford MP for Corby & Northants, Rhea Keehn prospective Labour parliamentary candidate for Kettering, Robert Sneddon from the Community Union, Rob Johnstone Campaigns & Policy Officer from TUC. Labour pledges on workers rights

GMB WELCOME LABOUR PLEDGES ON ZERO HOURS CONTRACTS AND WORKERS RIGHTS IN WORK MANIFESTO

At long last we have a major political party prepared to address and give rights to workers to shield them from exploitation in their workplaces says GMB

GMB commented on the Labour election pledge announced today (1st April 2015) on zero hours contracts and on the launch of the Labour work manifesto. Paul Kenny, GMB General Secretary, said "At long last we have a major political party prepared to address and give rights to workers to shield them from exploitation in their workplaces.

At long last the damage of zero hours contracts is to be addressed. This news will be welcomed by thousands of people for whom the world of work is a daily lottery.

Voters are faced with a stark choice - a party governing in the interest of corporate bosses with zero hours contracts and for tax breaks for the wealthy elite or a party seeking to provide rights and protection for working people.

Hopefully David Cameron will find himself on a zero hours contract come May the 8th”

List of shame shows that voters have a stark choice - a party governing in the interest of corporate bosses and tax breaks for the wealthy or a party seeking to provide rights and protection for working people says GMB

GMB has identified bosses, among the 103 that signed the letter to the Daily Telegraph today (1st April 2015) asking voters to support the Tory Party, from companies with links to tax dodging, blacklisting, zero hours contracts, pubcos, potential job losses and collapse of Southern Cross care homes and well as known Tory donors.
