Summary of the branch meeting held on 27.02.19
We have still not been able to make a donation to Corby Redbox as they are having trouble setting up a bank account.
It was agreed to make a donation to Accommodation Concern in Kettering. We will look at sending up a standing order in the future.
We will make a donation to the Nicaragua Solidarity Campaign and to the East Midlands Autism ‘Silly Sock’ campaign which is being supported by the Bassetlaw & Worksop branch.
Preparations are ongoing for Workers Memorial Day. Martin Allen will be unable to attend. Alida Coates can’t get here to receive the cheque. If she can’t arrange for a replacement we will have to look at finding an alternative. Beth Miller will speak and we will have a speaker from Justice for Columbia. The leader of Gordons Band has been contacted and will try to get her band together, if she can’t we will see if Corby Silver Band can do it as last year. The council chamber has been booked in case it rains.
It was suggested that we set up a Women’s Support Centre where women can come to get employment advice and representation. We will look into the possibility of setting up a branch equalities forum. This will agended for the next meeting after the secretary has had the chance to look into it.
