Summary of the branch meeting held on 27.04.16
There had been a good turnout for the demo opposing the county councils cuts to nursery provision. The secretary is waiting for treasurer of Pen Green to get back to him with a cost breakdown so we can give some financial support.
Correspondence: It was agreed to re-affiliate to Labour behind the Label. It was agreed to make a donation to the appeal for Alfie Oliver who is the son the regional political officer, Richard Oliver, and has cerebral palsy. The appeal is trying to raise funds to send Alfie to America for an operation to ease his condition and which isn’t available in the UK.
Nominations for officers and branch committee: There were no further nominations. We still don’t have a nominee for youth officer.
Secretary’s Report:
An exhibition supporting Workers Memorial Day has been set up in the foyer of the Cube with the help of Kaye Dyer from Corby Community Arts. The band and the buffet have been arranged. It looks as if the weather will be ok so we should be able to hold the event outside.
The secretary has had some business cards printed which the branch agreed to pay.
Nothing more has been heard about the retirement of Andy Worth or who will be in the running to take over.
The branch finances remain healthy. We are still looking for good causes to support.
Presidents Report:
Jackie has continued to fulfil her role as accompanying rep. Employers are increasingly ignoring the proper procedures which can make things difficult unless you are on your toes.

Adrian reported the photos of Rajko with the Kingswood under 11 FC team are on the website as are the links to the foodbanks we are supporting. The secretary hasn’t heard anything back from Irthlingborough food bank. Adrian will investigate.
Lily Lowe will be going to the regional women’s conference. Apparently the take up has been disappointing.
Workplace Reports:
Kier: The proposed 80 hour fortnight has not been agreed to in spite of managements attempt to make it look as if the un ion had agreed to it. It looks as if Kier will get the extension to their contract for the next 2 years.
The next Branch meeting will be on 25th May
