Minutes of the branch meeting held on 26.06.2019
2. Matter Arising: Agreed payments had been made. The secretary had written to the regional secretary regarding regional branches lack of support for Workers Memorial Day.
3. Correspondence:
a) It was agreed to continue sponsoring Corby Warriors FC under 11’s. Depending on whether they can supply photos for the website. A discussion took place about sponsoring more female teams particularly in the south of the county. The secretary will look into it.
b) Nominations are due for the central executive. This will be discussed at the next meeting.
4. Secretary’s Report: The secretary is concerned at the fact that we have lost four reps in the last month with no replacements. Two had gone for personal reasons but another two had gone because they hadn’t taken the General Data Protection Regulations training. This seems to a bit of overkill. The secretary did his training online but apparently reps training which must minimal is only being done at the Peterborough office. The secretary will find out if this training can be done differently.
5. Financial Report: finances are healthy
6. Social Media Report: Adrian reported that things are quiet just now. Website, twitter and facebook traffic are all down. The website has been updated.
7. Workplace Reports:
a). Accuma Plastics: No change
b). Matalan Warehouse: 30 to 40 employees will be moving over from agencies to permanent employee status. Reps will be making a presentation. The secretary will make sure they have some freebies to hand out.
8. Any Other Business:
a) Ray gave a report on GMB congress which he had attended as a visitor. The debates had been very good particularly on the NHS and racism in football. The attendance had been very good all week and Tim Roache had said it was the best congress he had attended.
b) Maggie gave a report on the change over to a unitary authority. The first meeting of the North Northants Joint Committee had taken place. Tom Beattie had been elected vice chair. Election to the shadow authority will take place next year. Boroughs will continue until at least 2021. Some boroughs are looking to set up as town councils.
