Summary of the branch meeting held on 27.11.19
It will not be possible to create a treasurer position separate from secretary in the branch as it is against the rules. Although the secretary believes that this has happened in at least one branch. This has been pointed out to the regional secretary with no response.
Tim Roache has been re-elected as general secretary.
It was agreed to re-affiliate to the National Pensioners Convention and to make an additional donation. The secretary will be the delegate from the branch anyone else who wishes to be a delegate should notify the secretary. Must be 55 plus.
The secretary will be posting out diaries to reps and workplace contacts.
Finances remain healthy
Jackie has not been elected to the central executive committee.
Social Media: Activity was up on Twitter and Facebook. Adrian had been forwarding stuff from the various labour party candidates. The monthly newsletter had been sent out and had received more openings than usual.
Workplace/Accompanying Reps Reports:
There have been some problems with the merger between Corby and Kettering street services. This will take some time before things settle down. It looks like we will have a new rep in the Robinson Way depot. Rachelle is working on a recognition agreement with Kettering.
Asda have imposed the new contract which is very disappointing but as union membership is relatively low and there was little interest in taking industrial action it was probably inevitable.
AOB:
Maggie had attended the regional council meeting. She said it was very low key and felt that it should have been cancelled in light of the general election.
It was agreed to make an additional payment to the foodbanks we support as Christmas can be a difficult time of year for them.
