Summary of the branch meeting held on 29.01.2020
Motions for Congress. Two motions were accepted. One concerning recruitment of low paid and zero-hour contract workers and another about encouraging voter registration.
Correspondence:
Voting papers for congress delegates have arrived. We decided who would be getting our votes.
Secretary’s Report: The secretary has started to organise for this year’s Workers Memorial Day event. Tom Beattie has agreed to speak. Angela Rayner has been contacted but hasn’t replied. Tim Roache can’t make it. It was agreed to make a donation to the mesothelioma research fund as usual.
The financial Position remains healthy
Website views, Newsletter opening and social media followers still about the same which is good for the time of year.
Rachelle had sent in a written report
There has been a ruling that ASDA check out staff (mainly women) should get equal pay with warehouse staff (mainly men) Store visits are going well.
Unitary authority talks are ongoing. Hopefully this will be a straight TUPE transfer.
