Summary of the branch meeting held on 30.09.20
The branch hasn’t received any CEC minutes since March 2019. We have now received them all.
There was one personal injury claim settled for £1,700.
It was agreed to re-affiliate to Justice for Columbia. Also that we would ask them to supply a speaker for our next informal meeting.
Richard Oliver has resigned as regional political officer. He has been appointed as director of East Midlands Regional Labour Party.
The secretary has hired a band supplied by Banner Theatre for May Day. However it was felt that it was unlikely that this event will now take place. It was suggested we could set up some sort of event by Zoom. We will look at it again in the New Year.
There had been 64 starters and 73 leavers in July and August. Letters have been sent to new members.
The branch finances remain healthy.
Website has been updated. 1555 newsletters sent with an opening rate of 29%. Website activity was up social media down. WhatsApp group has 26 members, up 2. It was agreed to continue with Zoom for 3 months
Discussions over the new unitary authorities are going well in the north, less well in the west. Corby and Kettering councils had received an award for re-wilding grass verges and roundabouts.
