Summary of the branch meeting held on 27.05.15
Apologies: Chelsey Furniss, Jackie Grover, Adrian Grover, Kayleigh Ketteridge.
The secretary spoke of his disappointment at the general election result, especially in Corby. We will have to keep a close eye on what the new tory mp is up to. This was reflected in comments from the rest of the meeting.
The secretary has written to Paul Kenny and Andy Worth to express the branches concerns over the lack of support for our Accompanying Reps motion to congress. This has resulted in the secretary being invited to a future meeting of the branch working party. So perhaps all is not lost.
The secretary will be meeting with GMB youth project workers when he gets back from holiday.
We are still in a financially good position are looking for good causes to support.
Lily gave an update from the Retired Members Association. Welcome back Lily.
Learning Direct: Debbie and Charlotte reported that owing to their efforts many of their clients are being placed in work. This has the effect of their caseload lessening as replacements are not being sent by the job centre. In spite of this they are still being put under pressure to improve productivity, which is clearly impossible.
Sterling is still having some problems with his new employers.
Management at Kier seem to be paving the way for a new contract bid.
Debbie asked if the branch could make a donation to the family of Luke McDonald, a 9 year old Corby boy who has recently died from Sanfilippo Syndrome, a genetic illness. It was agreed to donate £200.
