The secretary has provisionally booked a table at the Royal Tandoori in Corby for December 12th at 7.30pm. It will be open for all members. The branch will pay for the meal and one drink. Anyone who wants to go should let the secretary know by the next meeting
Paperwork has come through for GMB Congress 2015 in Dublin from Sunday 7th to Thursday 11th of June. It will be on the agenda for the November meeting. We will require two nominees, one from an equality strand (Black or ethnic minority, women, young person, LGBT or disabled.) Anyone interested should let the secretary know.
Nominations for the TUC Women’s conference and Black Workers conference also to be put on the agenda for the next meeting.
It was agreed to re-affiliate to the Labour Research Department and to make a donation to Hazards 2015.
Mary Turner, GMB President, has been invited to speak at next year’s Workers Memorial Day event
It was agreed to open a branch account with the Thorne Credit Union. The branch fund remains healthy
The attendance for the Northampton meeting had been very poor but very worthwhile. Richard Oliver, Regional Political Officer, was a very good committed speaker. He spoke of campaigns the GMB mounted to get laws changed. It was agreed that we should invite him to a future meeting.
Lily had attended a National Pensioners Convention meeting in London. This was run by Age Concern on the subject of fundraising. She also gave a report of the Retired members Meeting she had attended.
