Summary of the GMB Northants Branch Meeting held on 29.07.15
The secretary has made no progress about setting up a concert with Youth Brass 2000. Any suggestions would be most welcome
The Regional Equality Conference will take place in Regional Office on Thursday 15th of October from 10.00am until 3.00am. We can send 4 delegates. The secretary will inform members who might wish to go.
Opinion is being sought by the general secretary on a new industrial structure within the GMB. This would involve having 2 national sections, public and private, to replace the public, commercial and manufacturing sections we have now. Each section would have a number of sections each being served by a national officer. The branch felt we should have a view on this and it will be discussed at a future meeting.
The branch finances remain healthy.
Presidents Report: Jackie had nothing to report.
Adrian has been quite busy. A number of new photos have gone on the website. He has added two new sections, health and safety and courses. He will look into adding a search facility.
Lily attended a meeting of the National Pensioners Convention in Nottingham. The branch agreed to pay expenses.
Workplace Reports:
Kier: Corby Council No improvements so far. It is to be hoped that the council take the contract back inhouse.

Kingswood School: School closed for holidays
Sponne School: As above.
Learndirect: The manager has left and has not been replaced. There is a rumour that there will soon be redundancies but nothing official.
